The World of Llowellen: Play-by-forum & Roll20 Virtual Tabletop.
The elves of Llowellen live within several distinct cultures. The mighty continent of Anupam is home to most of them: there the gray elves live throughout the forests above and the dark elves live in the underworld beneath; wild elves claim the deepest, darkest and most remote woods and sea elves swim beneath the waves of the Kalani Ocean as far north as the Isles of Tuyen.
Personality: The long lives of the elves gives them a perspective on life unique among the Races of Mankind. Elves place great importance on the value of tradition, natural order and the Cycle of Life. Ancient customs exist only because they have been proven to work, elves are often heard to argue, change and progressive thinking can be dangerous and should be discouraged at all costs.
Physical Description: Elves are beautiful people, blessed with graceful ageless features, slim or athletic frames with little difference in height or girth between men and women. Most elves have dark skin tones ranging from a light sandy tan to a dark coffee brown.
Elves have no facial or body hair. Hair color can vary dramatically from a thick black gloss to a rich blond with most variations in between. Although traditions vary greatly, most men wear their hair short and well groomed while the women never cut the length of their hair, instead fashioning it into elaborate braids.
Relations: All elves adore the Seelie Fey and hate and fear the Unseelie. The Anupams and the Tuyenesian elves remain largely isolated during the time of the Old World and so they are a little wary of foreigners. The Kalani Ocean elves though have often visited the dry land shore of the different nations and cultures and they often exhibit a more cosmopolitan attitude.
Anupam elves revere and respect treants, whom they see as blessed by Anwen. Wererats are treated differently by different cultures, but more often than not are viewed as disgusting and wicked creatures worthy only of scorn.
The Kalani elves are willing to trade and deal with the kuo-toa and sauhagin although occasionally relations are strained due to border disputes with kuo-toa or raiding skirmishes with the sauhagin. Merfolk are treated almost as cousins, and are a well-respected and much loved neighbor.
The Tuyenesian elves maintain good relations with their merfolk, triton and weredolphin neighbors. Occasionally disputes may arise over fishing rights but these are usually settled amicably for both sides.
Homeland: During the time of the Old World, outside of the elvish homelands, the majority of elves encountered will be the sea elves. The continent of Anupam and the Isles of Tuyen are tropical forests, immense in size and ancient beyond knowing. A heavy humidity soaks everything with thick fogs, tropical rainstorms and monsoons. The different land-dwelling elves can be found living throughout their lands from the coasts, to the river valleys, to the forests and mountains.
The other lands of the elves lie beneath the waves of the Kalani Ocean among extensive living coral reefs warmed by the ocean currents and ancient hydrothermal vents where the sea elves build permanent and floating homes and fish across vast kelp forests and deepwater brine lakes thousands and thousands of feet beneath the surface.
Religion: Anupam elves worship Anwen but very differently from elsewhere on Llowellen. They see Anwen, whom they call Shyamala, as the chief spiritual guide among a pantheon of deific beings who act as mentors but not as leaders. Shyamalan religion teaches that the divine comes from within oneself and not from some external source.
The Kalani elves worship Anwen not as a physical deity, but as four separate elemental forces with air and water being the dominant and preferable two – earth is viewed as an evil force that is to be distrusted and feared.
The Tuyenesian elves worship a union between an ancient Tuyenesian hero named Pololoa and Anwen that gave birth to the Isles of Tuyen and everything on them. Their religious teachings speak of the Isles of Tuyen being born, of Anwen, in the depths of the ocean and growing taller until they broke the surface of the seas. In addition to these shared teachings each island group has its own demi-gods and deific heroes who are worshiped locally – many of whom are in fact Fey or Fey-kissed individuals.
Language: Anupam or Kalanese. Anupam is the language spoken by the surface elves. Kalanese is the native tongue of the Isles of Tuyen. It is a complex language that is difficult to translate into anything but Anupam.

The Evolved Elf
Elves who undergo the Unseelie Evolution ceremony may grow up to 6 inches taller and become 50 pound lighter lending their frame a more exaggerated slender and elongated appearance. Evolved elves also become much more agile, nimble and quick on their feet. Their wits improve and they become even more at home in the water as the most skillful of swimmers.
