Have fun with google image searches to find a good gnome explorer.
My favorite gnome artists are Larry MacDougall, DiTerlizzi and Penko Gelev.
You are a part of a well established group of adventurers from a country called Uberwald. You’ve had a bunch of adventures and survived long enough to reach 7th level. You have all achieved a certain level of fame in Uberwald.
It was for this reason that the Prince of Uberwald contacted your group and issued his royal charter to explore trade routes to the far north. Far, far to the north is Thales, Kingdom of the Giants. Prince Uberwald wants to begin a new era of trade with the faraway giants… but first a road must be found and made safe.
It is your job to forge a path and make contact with the giants.
You left Uberwald many weeks ago. You have crossed the Belekov Mountains, traveling over and under mountain and facing many dangers along the way. You are further north than any explorers have ever ventured and returned safely. There has been no sign of civilization since you passed Uberwald’s borders.
But now the mountains are behind you. And Thales is still further north. Before you stretches The Forlorn Waste, a war-ravaged and haunted wilderness where no sane person would live.
But the filthy little village of Wenflet exists here, nonetheless. This wretched little hamlet is home to criminals and drifters, every one of them desperate and hopeless, wringing out an existence on the far fringes of civilization.
The adventure begins as the party enters the village to rest and prepare to cross the Forlorn Waste and continue north. You are excited to have made it this far, The Forlorn Waste is a historian’s wet dream. Massive battles and wars were fought here – angels and demons – paladins and anti-paladins – thousands and thousands of them. You know all the stories and legends of lost artifacts and dead heroes buried out their in the dust…
